Is acupuncture safe?

Yes, acupuncture is safe when performed by a licensed or certified acupuncturist. Acupuncture needles are sterile, disposable, and very thin. The World Health Organization officially lists acupuncture as a competent treatment for a range of health conditions.

Are acupuncture needles painful?

Most people describe the feeling of acupuncture needles as painless or mildly uncomfortable. Some feel relaxed or an energy flow.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments, however, greatly depends on the person and diagnosis. While fewer treatments are often required for acute conditions, chronic conditions may necessitate multiple sessions. Your acupuncturist will design a treatment plan for you that is tailored to your individual needs.

What is involved in my first visit?

Your first visit will begin with a comprehensive consultation to discuss your health history, current symptoms, and treatment goals. Your acupuncturist will then perform a physical examination, including pulse diagnosis and tongue diagnosis. Based on this information, your acupuncturist will devise an individualized treatment plan.

How long will the visits be?

This will depend on your individual needs, but initial visits are generally longer in order to allow a thorough consult and treatment. Follow-ups are typically shorter.

How should I prepare for the appointment?

It is best if you wear loose clothing which allows the acupuncturist easy access to acupuncture points. Avoid heavy meals before the appointment. If you are taking any medications, please inform your acupuncturist.

Do you take Insurance?

Unfortunately, acupuncture is not yet covered by PhilHealth, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation. However, many private health insurance plans do cover acupuncture treatments. Please contact your insurance provider to verify your specific coverage.

What forms of payment do you accept?

In the Philippines, we currently accept cash, Gcash, and bank transfer.

What education does an acupuncturist receive?

Acupuncturists complete a rigorous education program that includes coursework in acupuncture theory, Chinese medicine, Western medicine, and other related subjects.
